In a world filled with dj's and producers, not many of them can say they have been doing it for over 17 years. Born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, then 16 year old "Michael" was exposed to underground raves, turntables, and of course lots of vinyl records. Alternating interests in different music scenes over the years, his main motivation, always being to "move people". Growing up watching dj's such as Z-Trip, Marcus Shultz, and others eventually move away from his hometown had inspired him to do the same. Now, seven years later he is currently living in San Francisco and working as a full time dj. Holding several residencies around the city from the DNA Lounge to Qbar to working with The W Hotel. You can often find him providing the soundtrack for nights out (Bootie), after dinner drinks (W Hotel), corporate events (LINKDN) or opening for some of the hottest acts coming to SF (London Grammar, Jacques Lu Cont). Not to mention out of town gigs such as LA, Phoenix, Denver, Anchorage, and more.
After a few years of living in the city he started to focus on production. His first attempts were making Disco House for labels such as Solid Bump and Stardust Records. This resulted in several releases charting on Turntable Lab and Beatport, he later switched gears and started working with live Indie Bands. Now for the past year and a half MyKill has done fresh remixes for bands such as Midi Matilda, Fun. (with Party Ben), Goldroom, 8th Grader, The Holy Coast and many more. These remixes have become his most successful works to date, gaining popularity on many blogs (Gotta Dance Dirty, etc) and even hitting the Top 5 of Hype Machine several times. He now looks towards the future with his first solo EP to be released in 2014. Titled "Long Time Listener, First Time Caller" this album will be all original material including collaborations with various guest vocalists.
Whether it's Indie Dance, Nu-Disco, House, or any other underground style, MyKill likes to keep things melodic, emotionally moving, funky, and fun. His success is based off a deep knowledge and understanding of music, crowds and knowing how to play a room or a time slot correctly. With a balance of what is expected and what is unexpected, while always keeping things interesting. MyKill is set to make waves in 2014 as he expands his fan base and keeps working with other talented musicians.
